Many of you know that our church is in the middle of a 40 day fast. For those of you who go to church with us you too have seen the power of God moving in your individual lives as I am doing in my own. And one particular phrase God keeps bringing to my mind is to seek Him with all of my heart. My favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11-14…”For I know the plans I for you says the Lord. Plans for good and not for evil, to bring you a future and hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord…”
He just keeps bringing this phrase before me in my devotions, in the sermons, in songs and so on. So that has been my conversation with the Lord lately. Just what does that look like and for me, what does that feel like? My hearts desire is to truly seek Him like that but even more I want to hear from Him. Even as Jarrod was preaching Sunday, God was so impressing on my heart this desire that I have. I don’t even have much I want to ask Him for right now, I just want to hear from Him. I truly believe that is when we need to crawl up in the lap of our Abba and lay our heads on His chest and listen to His heartbeat. ( I love that picture)
I have no answers as to how He will continue to speak and teach me, but I do know He will. For I can testify to many other times when God has radically changed my life and set me free, revealing to me His truths for my life when I have really been searching for him. But for now, I am drawn to simply praise Him…mostly in singing, but also, in speaking outloud to Him. (Carrie Beth is used to this, for she asks from time to time when she hears me talking outloud, ” Are you talking to Jesus or yourself?”) So, I will choose to praise Him and ask Him over and over to speak to me. He has already been showing me so much and teaching me about His strong-rooted faithfulness to His people. I think He is also teaching me how to “Be still and know that I am God”. I want a fresh touch from Him. I am so excited at how He is moving. We truly are in the right place to hear from Him, as Jarrod said on Sunday. So join me in seeking Him with all of our hearts and praise Him with me!!
“Let all things praise the Lord, Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament! Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness! Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp! Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes! Praise Him with the loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!” Psalm 150
