As I write this my heart is so heavy and full of loss for some friends of ours that have lost there 2 year old little boy. Rick and Sherri Burgess’ (Rick of “Rick and Bubba”) little boy drowned on Sat. at their home. These sweet people are believers and have done nothing but give Jesus the praise for even this. However, as humans they are in deep pain and shock. I don’t even know how you breathe after that kind of loss. I am once again reminded that life is precious and very short. We are not promised tomorrow but we are promised eternity with Him if we know Jesus as our personal Savior. I am thankful that they will see their sweet baby boy again one day, but for now I ask you to pray with me and stand in the gap on their behalf. What a privilage it is to be able to do this for each other. Life, long or short, is a gift from God. Thank you Father for this sweet little life, Bronner Burgess, and for blessing this world with his presence for these past couple of years. And as their website says, “He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with Him.” 1 Thess. 5:10.
Hug those you love and kiss them over and over. Tell them you love them! Enjoy them!!
That is so awful! I used to watch them on TV and I was listening to them on the radio, but apparently they’re not on the station that I was listening to. I’m listening to the show now on the internet. Bubba and Speedy are doing a special show. I was reading some news articles about it. It says that Rick was at a speaking engagement. Was Sherri home with him, or one of the other kids?
Yes, Rick was in Gatlinburg…Sherri was home with all three boys. they had been playing in the snow that morning and then all sat to watch a movie in the movie room. Later, she told them she was going to take a shower. When she came back, she asked them where Bronner was and the older boys said he left. The house is huge and she looked through it first before going out to the pool. He had to go down a lot of stairs to get outside. She found him at the bottom of the pool. THe doctor next door tried to revive him and so did the ambulance. She had jumped in and pulled him out. It is truly awful and she is completely distraught!!! As you can imagine.
But from what I hear the service was awesome. Just pray for her especially. She was not neglecting those sweet boys. You know how it is to be a mommy…I just am so broken for her. I just hope she will be able to see what God is going to do through all of this. And yet, as a Mommy, I don’t know how you get through this without Jesus. But she does know the Lord….
The show was awesome this morning. They played the recording of Rick speaking at the funeral. They were talking about the glow that he had around him as he spoke. There were also people calling in telling about pulling over on the side of the interstate and giving their life to Christ, rededicating their life, etc. Someone made the statement that Bronner’s death had already sparked a revival. It was a very moving show.
Yes I got hear parts of it and I’m getting ready to log on to hear his eulogy. As sad as it is, God does have a purpose and He is being glorified. Good to hear from you.
